The Irrational - The Exchange

With the future of the show still up in the air, the Second Season of The Irrational concludes with Alec (Jesse L. Martin) and Rose (Karen David) helping smooth over a prisoner transfer that involves a friend of Alec imprisoned in Russia, along with two other Americans, for a valuable Russian asset (Eugene Lipinski) currently imprisoned in the United States. There are several aspects about the case including introducing Fritzy-Klevans Destine as Rose's old partner and husband who attempts to tempt her back into the spy life (teasing a possible reason for the recurring character to leave the show).

During the finale, other characters also contemplate their futures including Kylie (Travina Springer) considering a job offer and Marisa (Maahra Hill) considering selling the house and starting a new chapter for herself as well. Although an experiment isn't created for the case, Alec does fallback on previous experiments (shown in flashbacks) in order to find ways to force the Russians to add his friend to the exchange and convince the Russian prisoner to accept his help.

The end result has a few twists and turns before some last-minute reveal of the person responsible for attempting to prevent the exchange from taking place. As the season comes to a close we get one more obvious reveal, Alec choosing not to have the surgery, and a nice surprise with the show strongly suggesting Karen David would return, with Rose choosing to move forward rather than back to spy life, should the show return for a Third Season.
