Sherlock & Daughter - The Common Thread
The second episode of the series begins Amelia Rojas' (Blu Hunt) apprenticeship under Sherlock Holmes (David Thewlis). While carrying out Holmes' orders in snooping at the Ambassador's home and looking for the horses used in the abduction, Amelia can't ever grasp the last order Holmes gives in "do nothing more." While her ingenuity proves fruitful, and Clara Anderson (Gia Hunter) is found, her choice to rely on the police rather than bring in Holmes at a crucial moment allows for the mysterious Thread to make off with their other hostages. One mystery is solved, but the larger one (which continues to shackle Holmes' ability to work out in the open) continues.
The episode highlights the strengths and weakness of both characters while trust continues to be hard to come by with Amelia taking matters in to her own hands and going beyond her instructions, despite Holmes' warnings, and Holmes, already cautious of the girl considering her claim of paternity, discovers a single thread in her room (part of her mother's case) which will cause an ever greater misunderstanding (coincidentally not allowed to be closed by the timely arrival of the police) which will need to be mended if the pair have any hope in solving the larger mystery.
