NCIS: Origins - Bugs / Darlin', Don't Refrain
Jamison Boyd (Jared Bankens) tells Vera (Diany Rodriguez) he isn't the sniper responsible for the murders and the real culprit shoots him dead in the prison yard. "Bugs" spends quite a bit of time with Vera and her theories, which then bring in the rest of the team, while "Darlin', Don't Refrain" brings in the FBI to work alongside NIS to find the real Sandman who it turns out Gibbs (Austin Stowell) has already met.
Despite its supposed importance to the season, the Sandman case itself (outside of Gibbs' involvement) was pretty forgettable the first time around. However, this pair of episodes sheds new light on events and also ties in Gibbs' support group and Cliff's (Patrick Fischler) trouble at home to offer more insight to his character, his connection to the FBI, and how recent events have affected his son. The fallout of the episode for Cliff, given his actions the first time around with the case, and with Gibbs, given the events at the end of the episode, head straight into the show's First Season finale suggesting, perhaps, we may still be waiting for the second shoe to drop.
