Doctor Who - Lux

Unable to return to her time, The Doctor (Ncuti Gatwa) takes Belinda Chandra (Varada Sethu) back to the 50s where they discover odd goings on at a local movie theater which is now haunted by Lux Imperator (Alan Cumming), another member of the Pantheon of Discord, who has taken the form of a cartoon character on the screen and has pulled the audience into the film. The Doctor and Belinda meet a similar fate, although they are able to break out of the film and find a way to defeat Lux... by giving it exactly what it wants?

The episode has shades of the classic Warner Bros. cartoon "Duck Amuck" although we don't really get to see Lux playing with our protagonists in the same way that Bugs toyed with Daffy during their time on film (Lux ignores them for the most part). The purpose of the episode is to further introduce Belinda to The Doctor and his world, and, importantly, get her to trust him. "Lux" does this well enough, and offers flair in set design, costume, and special effects, even if it is goofy in ways that constantly undercut any actual menace from Lux.
