Watson - The Man with the Glowing Chest
While the title of the episode refers to a geneticist friend of Watson (Morris Chestnut), the patient (Brittany Adebumola) in the episode suffering from multiples issues stemming for sickle cell anemia allows Watson to play with the concept of what doctors should and shouldn't do to save their patient. Putting his career on the line, while attempting to hide what he's doing from the team, Watson performs an unapproved medical procedure which saves his patient's life leaving the team, and his ex-wife, to face the ramifications.
The argument that Watson offers, that a doctor should do everything he or she can to save their patient, is a strong one. As the surgery is successful, with only a slight hiccup afterwards, "The Man with the Glowing Chest" shies away from the potential negative outcomes of the procedure (other than in relation to Watson's medical career). As to the rest of the episode, the most memorable moments involve Ingrid (Eve Harlow) choosing to stand by Watson's decision (but still document, potentially leading to trouble down the line) and trick Ingrid (Eve Harlow) into helping her get her sister into an important medical study (which one would also expect potential blowback for at some point in the future as well).
