Daredevil - With Interest
In what is the obligatory standalone crossover episode, "With Interest" continues themes of Matt Murdock (Charlie Cox) struggling with his need to put his skills outside of the courtroom to use. In this episode this involves Hell Kitchen's most famous blind lawyer walking into a bank during a robbery and finding ways to keep everyone safe, prevent the theft of a rare jewel from a safe deposit box, and dole out a little punishment. The episode works in a vacuum with the various other storylines put on hold for this single adventure which, in part, is also used to introduce Matt to the bank's assistant manager Yusuf Khan (Mohan Kapur) who happens to have a hero in the family.
Pretty much all the highlights of the episode involve Matt doing something followed quickly by the astonished reaction of Yusuf. This includes safecracking the vault with relative ease and dumping the jewel into the assistant bank manager's candy bowl. The action sequences are short but brutal both in Matt subduing a few of the robbers without the others catching on and chasing down, and rather horrifically, taking a bit of justice into his own hands on the city streets. The events here don't really play a role in making up Matt's mind, or act as a catalyst (that will come in the following episode), but simply work as another entry in a long seasons of breadcrumbs which will eventually give us what the show has promised in the rebirth of the devil of Hell's Kitchen.
