Zatanna #1
Zatanna's new magic tour gets off to a bad start when members of her crew are pulled into various realities within the Astral Plane during rehearsals in the opening issue of the new series. Aside from the opening, where we get a little of Zatanna working with her crew, the comic's main focus is Zatanna jumping here and there to get her friends back to the real world before confronting the Lady White as to the reasoning behind her attack.
Although we get references and cameos to various other DC heroes, it looks like this is going to be another series focused on Zatanna's magical life rather than her super-heroing one. Leaving plenty to be explained in the issues to come, weird magical antics, fishnets, and plenty of backward magic work well enough to kick off the new series from Jamal Campbell, who does double-duty here providing both story and art, which I expect to take some unusual turns given the opening issue's cliffhanger going all stabby-stabby on our heroine.
