Will Trent - Floor Is Lava

In an episode that involves Will (Ramón Rodríguez), Angie (Erika Christensen), Faith (Iantha Richardson) and Ormewood (Jake McLaughlin) all awkwardly trying not to disturb evidence (in the sequence which provides the episode its title), "Floor Is Lava" is most notable for walking Will and Angie through a series of meetings from some awkward on-the-job discussions to a tearful confrontation after hours to an honest break in their relationship that leaves the two firmly separated. Going along with this theme is another appearance of Marion (Gina Rodriguez) confirming her as Will's new love interest.

While still allowing Angie the opportunity to vent at Will, the episode takes a grown-up approach to the pair's relationship allowing the acrimony to fade but the hurt to remain. Now just co-workers, we'll see if eventually the pair can find their way back to becoming friends (although at this point anything beyond that feels very unlikely). The Will/Marion pairing should be fun to see play out as will seeing Will attempt a completely new relationship. As for the case, the complicated story of rather dimwitted individuals being taken advantage of by con man tricking them to think they were working for the CIA has its moments playing on the stupidity of the average citizen, although the episode is much more about Will and Angie than simply solving another crime.
