Fast-forwarding an indeterminate amount of time (weeks? months? a year?), Zaun has become occupied by the Piltover and Noxian forces harassing the citizens of the undercity searching for Jinx (Ella Purnell) who has retreated from the public eye with Isha (Lucy Lowe). Despite the pleas for Jinx to return, she remains missing until her precocious ward forces her hand by getting kidnapped at a rally along with several others in the undercity leading to Jinx to stage a rescue with Sevika (Amirah Vann) shocking her with the discovery of just how much her legend has grown in her absence.
This episode would have made more sense as the season premiere with the natural break in the story. While we get a few moments in Piltover, mostly focused on the machinations of Ambessa (Ellen Thomas) and the doubts of Caitlyn (Katie Leung), the majority of "Paint the Town Blue" remains focused on the people of the undercity including Singed (Brett Tucker) who has his own planned method of escape in his ferral wolfman who kills indiscriminately to get to him including almost killing Jinx who remains to cover Sevika and Isha's retreat. However, just before committing the killing blow, the creature recognizes Jinx (or at least who she used to be) in an unexpected family reunion.
