The Fourth Season of Only Murders in the Building comes to a close with a trip to the set of Ron Howard's (appearing as himself after a long tease that suggested he might not make an appearance) new film, the reveal of the killer and his motive, and a wedding (along with the tease of a new murder to solve next season). Along with Howard's appearance, which actually confirms one of Oliver's (Martin Short) outlandish stories, the final two episodes fill in the gaps to Sazz's (Jane Lynch) murder providing not only the motive writer turned stuntman turned writer Marshall P. Pope (Jin Ha) but the events which led up her death.
The episodes are also notable for a dust up and make up between Oliver and Charles (Steve Martin) on the eve of his wedding and the pair risking their own lives to walk across the balcony to rescue Mabel (Selena Gomez) who Marshall takes hostage. Sadly, none of them were able to save Glenn Stubbins (Paul Rudd) from Marshall. It turns out Marshall's thin relation to Dudenoff (Griffin Dunne) provided him the means to kill Sazz, although given that none of the Westies were involved in the crime does feel like a quite a bit of the season was wasted questionable red herrings that dampen the reveal a bit. It's not the best season finale, but there's still plenty of fun to be had.
