"The Madness Method" offers a twisty tale of a murder's psychiatrist (Paula Patton) warning the department he's (Keenan Tracey) on his way to Gibsons. Sensing something off about her story, and the woman herself, Karl (Rossif Sutherland) has his department dig into her background while they prepare for the killer's arrival. This leaves the department stretched thin when he arrives, but it also gives Karl the necessary information to know who is actually behind the attacks and prevent any more loss of life (even when he storms the department).
The B-story involves Cassandra (Kristin Kreuk) suffering from the posttraumatic stress of her abduction and pulling away from Karl suggesting that the romantic side of the pair's relationship is over (at least for now). The two threads cross paths at the station where, just like she did with Karl, the psychiatrist gets into Cassandra's head while pretending to help and pushing her to blame Karl for what happened. Patton provides yet another strong guest-star, something quickly becoming a staple of the show, and while a murder does occur outside of town (in the opening scene), this marks the second episode in a row where no murder takes place in the small town.
