After the death of Morgan Bote (Joel Grey), Harold (John Lithgow) takes Dan Chase (Jeff Bridges) and Zoe (Amy Brenneman) home with him leading to revelations and unexpected bonding over the tragic end of events in Afghanistan. There's a scene in the middle of this episode featuring four people in a dark room on a phone call with someone half a world away, unable to do anything but listen, that hits home for each of them, and for the audience, as frenzy of uncertainty gives way to finality and leaves Dan Chase with only regret and revenge.
Along with the call, which suggests the death of Emily/Angela (Alia Shawkat), the episode also provides an unexpected conversation between Zoe and Chreryl Harper (Jessica Harper) about their relationships to the men in their lives and a curtain that has been unveiled to the world where Harold works. Less surprising, is Dan's reaction to his daughter's death torturing the mercenary prisoner for answers he doesn't expect to hear. By the end of the episode, Dan and Zoe have the making of a plan to find Suleyman Pavlovich (Rade Serbedzija) beginning with a trip to London.
