Only Murders in the Building - Lifeboat

Returning to the Arconia, and the Westies of Vince (Richard Kind), Rudy (Kumail Nanjiani), Alfonso (Desmin Borges), Inez (Daphne Rubin-Vega), and Ana (Lilian Rebelo), "Lifeboat" solves the death of Dudenoff (Griffin Dunne) while still leaving unanswered questions about the murder of Sazz (Jane Lynch). Dudenoff killing himself for his friends and them fulfilling his wishes by faking his continued existence feels an awful lot like the writers struggling to get themselves out of a dead end of their own making. The show ends with another cliffhanger and a new direction for the investigation pointing to the set of the film Sazz was working on and another familiar face.

The flashbacks, and the events we see unfold, are pretty damn awkward leading to a bit of a mixed bag given the amount of the episode set aside for them (and all to eliminate suspects they had already eliminated). Highlights of the episode include Eugene Levy's attempts to get Charles (Steve Martin) angry, Zach Galifianakis offering Oliver (Martin Short) marriage advice, and the idea of the ding-dong (which ultimately doesn't work) and its attempt to shock the suspects into admitting their guilt.
