Well, if you can't come up with a good villain you can always turn Superman (Jack Quaid) into the villain, I guess. As Kara (Kiana Madeira) helps Lois (Alice Lee) and Jimmy (Ishmel Sahid) sneak aboard the ship, Brainiac (Michael Emerson) works on Clark's psyche finding a weakness in the recent disappointments concerning his friends and exploiting them. The episode ends with Brainiac now fully in control of Superman's body laying the foundation for Lex Luthor (Max Mittelman) and Amanda Waller's (Debra Wilson) fears to come to pass with an invasion of Earth by "Superman."
As with most of the show, the episode's best moments are in the character interactions including Jimmy trying to explain his relationship with Kara to Lois and Brainiac twisting Clark's memories to fit his needs (but getting the most success when simply showing the pain Lois actually caused him). Kara seems free of Brainiac at the end of the episode, suggesting the possibility to save Clark as well with Lois attempting to connect to his mind to free him, but what will it take to do so (and how much damage will "Superman" do in the meantime)?
