Wonder Woman #9

Wonder Woman #9 is an interesting, and effective, way to prolong the Sovereign storyline without any real advancement. We need to know Wonder Woman is still being held by the evil organization but rather than show us her rotting in a cell over months, instead we see the world Diana creates in order to not fall into despair. And at the center of that world is Steve Trevor who acts as her sounding board and, in one crucial moment, reminds the Amazon that she can't, even in a moment of weakness, ever give in.

This isn't an issue that if you skip it you will miss anything crucial to the arc. However, that doesn't mean you should let this one go. Issue #9 is a terrific look inside the mind and resiliency of Wonder Woman in a vibrant way that is, of course, so much more interesting than her solitary confinement (with the Sovereign believing Diana needs personal interaction and without it she will break). The issue also peppers in several nods to previous issues such as Diana declaring she is fine (whether or not that is the case).

Really strong stuff here for an issue that shows a glimpse of the inner world of Diana, and the backup story featuring Trinity dealing with Damian and Jon turned into Corgis by Circe isn't too shabby either.
