The second issue of Black Widow & Hawkeye doesn't delve any deeper into the admission Clint Barton made at the end of the last issue in that he is responsible for the assassination the whole world is blaming him for. Before further explanation can be given, Clint is poisoned by an assassin who Black Widow scares off but to save her friend she'll need the help of her symbiote (who like Natasha knows her friend is lying but doesn't understand her need to save someone refusing her help).
Black Widow & Hawkeye #2 connects the longtime friends in a new way through Natasha's symbiote. It's an interesting idea (although I'm not sure why a full bond was needed to save his life). The comic also gives us a retelling of the two characters' first meeting as Natasha explains why Clint needs to be saved as well as the (less impressive) reveal that Damon Dran is one of the many, many people who wants Hawkeye dead. As to the truth about the assassination, that remains a mystery.
