Picking up directly from the end of the last issue with Devastator ripping through the depleted ranks of the Autobots, Transformers #6 is most notable for the tease of Optimus Prime's death before one of the Transformers' new friends makes a sacrifice. And then we see what a badass Optimus Prime can be, stemming the tide and pushing the Decepticons back on their heels.
One of the pleasant surprises of the comic was to put the more capable Cliffjumper into the role the Autobot most tied to humans over the less fierce Bumblebee. This comic backtracks on this a little by having Cliffjumper unable to take down Starscream basically turning him into a new Bumblebee (and defeating the purpose of swapping the characters out). I understand the reason for this kind of character indecision in humans fighting humans but I don't think it translates all that well for transforming alien robots who can basically be brought back from the dead whenever a writer feels like. Hrm.
