Suddenly at the entrance to the Underworld, because why bog down your audience in the logical progression of plot or story when randomly jumping ahead is just easier, Percy (Walker Scobell) and his friends descend looking to both free Percy's mother and retrieve the magical artifact that Percy discovers has been in his backpack for multiple episodes. And, here's the kicker, Hades (Jay Duplass) doesn't even want it.
Meant to offer a big twist, the episode is more confusing than anything else as Percy and the audience discover the entire point of the quest was pointless. However, the highlight of the episode is notable for the impressive CGI rendering of the three-headed giant dog Cerberus who Percy, Annabeth (Leah Jeffries), and Grover (Aryan Simhadri) have to find a way around. Of course the dog's presence, defending a gate Hades wants them to walk through, is yet another example of the show's poor logic.
