Rabbit Ronin in SPAAAAAAAAAAACE! Recollecting the early 90s comic series centered around a descendant of Miyamoto Usagi known as Commander Usagi as a general of the Shirohoshi Clan's space fleet and mentoring young Prince Kiyoshi who has been targeted by assassins of a rival clan about to make their play against Lord Hideaki, Space Usagi: Death and Honor #1 kicks off the three-issue tale for the first time printed in color.
While the story reincorporates classic Usagi Yojimbo concepts and themes, it does so in a futurized setting which feels very 90s. We even get a lightsaber-ish katana and a giant turtle spaceship. Ugagi by any name is still fun. Both new and old fans should get a kick out of the issue which is notable for allowing Stan Sakai to draw a futuristic version of the character in unusual settings (and the Agnes Garbowska variant cover is pretty damn cool as well).
