A Murder at the End of the World - Survivors

For a collection of supposed geniuses, these people sure are stupid. Despite having pretty solid evidence to support her claim that Bill (Harris Dickinson) was murdered, Darby (Emma Corrin) finds herself alone in the camp while others are all too willing to accept an unlikely suicide. About to be sent home by Andy (Clive Owen), Darby pushes forward finding an unexpected connection Bill had with another of the guests who will meet a similar end by the end of the episode, just before he can share a crucial piece of information, forcing, hopefully, our "geniuses" to take Darby's claims a bit more seriously.

In Love and Deep Water

Set on a cruise ship, In Love and Deep Water merges a romcom about a pair of jilted lovers who come together after realizing their significant others are cheating with a murder mystery aboard the ship. The romcom angle works fairly well with the life of the buttoned-down butler (Ryô Yoshizawa) thrown into chaos after the arrival of Chizuru (Aoi Miyazaki) who showed up to catch her boyfriend and Suguru's girlfriend together only to realize to late that the pair aren't on the ship and finding herself stuck on the cruise for several days. The pair bond over both their misfortune and investigating the murder which occurs on the ship (which is where the film runs into problems).

Catwoman #59

After the events of The Gotham War, Catwoman has left Gotham, made a costume upgrade, and set out on a new mission for herself which begins in Colombia with a run-in with Santa Espada involving a stolen cat that Selina has finally decided to return, or so it initially appears, even if doing so puts her life in danger.

Nyad

Based on true events, Nyad offers the attempts of retired long-distance swimmer Diana Nyad (Annette Bening) who in her 60s became obsessed with completing the swim from Havana to Florida which she failed to accomplish in her 20s. While in many ways your typical sports drama featuring an athlete overcoming impossible odds, and driven (and haunted) by personal experience, the film's story is elevated by the performances of Benning and by Jodie Foster who plays Diana's best friend and coach throughout her multiple attempts to make history.

Invincible - A Lesson For Your Next Life

Season Two of Invincible kicks off with a confusing opening sequence (making me wonder if I'd forgotten how Season One actually ended) with Invincible (Steven Yeun)  and Omni-Man (J.K. Simmons) working together to prepare Earth for the arrival of the Viltrumites and grind what limited resistance remains on the planet to dust (which includes the brutal paralyzation of one of Mark's former friends). The extended opener is revealed to be an alternate reality, one of several where Mark chose to partner with his father rather than stand-up to him, and then we're thrown back into Mark's reality where his attempts to get to normal and but his father's betrayal behind him have had mixed results.

Wonder Woman #3

After one of the best Wonder Woman comics I've ever read, the series comes down to Earth for something closer to a middle issue of an ongoing arc. Wonder Woman #3 isn't bad by any means, it just doesn't measure up to last month's terrific issue. The B-story offers a look at the Sovereign and how he uses the the Lasso of Lies to bend another supporter to his will. Let's just say this takes up more panels of the issue than I'd like.

Nimona

Based on the graphic novel of the same name, Nimona takes place in a futuristic medieval kingdom where Ballister Boldheart (Riz Ahmed) finds the best day of his life turned into the worst when the during his knighting ceremony he's framed for the murder of the Queen (Lorraine Toussaint) by those with reason to not see a commoner become a knight and disrupt the status quo. Befriended by the impetuous Nimona (Chloë Grace Moretz), a shapeshifter who appears to him in the form of teenage girl, the two work together to uncover the truth, clear Ballister's name, and prove Nimona is more than just a monster.

Bob's Burgers - Wharf, Me Worry?

"Wharf, Me Worry?" offers some warm fuzzy revelations for characters worrying about current dilemmas. When Gene (Eugene Mirman), Tina (Dan Mintz), and Louise (Kristen Schaal) head to Wonder Wharf if Bob's father (Eric Bauza), Bob (H. Jon Benjamin) worries his father's growing pessimism over the decaying state of the world will scare the kids. Turns it he had nothing to worry about, although when he decides to check up on them he discovers the kids are missing eventually to be found locked into Clamstradamus booth of the Shellendipity where they have had fun telling random fortunes to the few passersby on a rainy day at the amusement park.

Harley Quinn: Black + White + Redder #5

Harley Quinn: Black + White + Redder #5 offers three more tales featuring Harley Quinn kicking off with the bizarre "The Harley Spirit" heavy on metaphor casting Harley into something resembling an avenging spirt brought forth by witches to avenge women harmed by men in the Middle Ages of some alternate timeline.

Monarch: Legacy of Monsters - Secrets and Lies

In another strong episode, "Secrets and Lies" gives us Cate (Anna Sawai), Kentaro (Ren Watabe), and May (Kiersey Clemons) making their way out of Japan with Lee (Kurt Russell) and their journey to Alaska to search for answers about what exactly Hiroshi Randa was doing there before his disappearance and what ultimately happened to him. While building some camaraderie between our explorers, the series continues to foreshadow more than one of them are holding onto secrets which obviously won't stay secret for the entirety of the journey. The episode ends on a cliffhanger for our group who will be spending a little more time in Alaska than they planned.

Rustin

Director George C. Wolfe's biopic of civil rights activist Bayard Rustin (Colman Domingo) deals primarily with Rustin's role in being the guiding force in organizing the 1963 March on Washington. The film is more notable for its performances that plot which doesn't give us much information about the man other than how his homosexuality and former Communist leanings created friction with the NAACP who disowned him for a period of time before the 1963 march.

In terms of offering a snapshot to one man's role in one event, Rustin succeeds. The film showcases the struggle of grassroots politics, the compromises along the way, and the joy of of success. Other than his friction with the NAACP, his hot and cold friendship with Martin Luther King, Jr. (Aml Ameen), and his homosexuality, the film doesn't dive much into Rustin outside of the events surrounding the march and how his charisma and knowledge led to success even while fighting those on his own side over the optics of his sexuality.

The History of Superman: The Animated Series

Secret Galaxy takes a look back at the history of Superman: The Animated Series.

They Shot the Piano Player

They Shot the Piano Player weaves together a fictional framework, true events, and real interviews to explore the disappearance of Brazilian pianist Francisco Tenório Júnior, and its wider implications, as well as the rising popularity of bossa nova music coming out of Rio de Janeiro in the previous decade. Originally writing a more lighthearted book about the the music of the period, our protagonist is introduced the work of a promising musician and begins pulling on the loose thread of Tenório's life.

Using a fictional stand-in voiced by Jeff Goldblum to carry the narrative and merge documentary footage, interviews taken over 15 years, and voice actors filling in gaps in the story, directors Javier Mariscal and Fernando Trueba celebrate the music that captured the world while at the same time digging into the ugliness of Operation Condor and the thousands who were disappeared, tortured, and murder in Argentina during the military dictatorship's state terrorism which ran from 1974 and 1983 including Tenório.

Rick and Morty - Rickfending Your Mort

Rick and Morty lampoon clip shows with "Rickfending Your Mort" when Morty's (Harry Belden) attempts to get an unengaged Rick (Ian Cardoni) back into action end up in an argument needing a mediator to solve. Obviously designed off of Star Trek's Guardian of Forever, the Observers view and recall all which provides some ammunition for both characters to fight with (and plenty of clicks of unseen adventures) until both Rick and Morty grow tired of the concept and can't get rid of the Observer who starts showing anything it wants, humiliating various members of the family. After accidentally killing the Observer, Rick and Morty find themselves on trail for murder on its home world which, of course, means a whole new set of clips.

BlackBerry

BlackBerry offers the rise and fall of Research in Motion who created the BlackBerry which, at its peak, owned half of cellphone market only to completely disappear in less than two decades. The story behind the phone, and the company, is boiled down in this script from Matt Johnson and Matthew Miller to the relationship between engineer and designer Mike Lazaridis (Jay Baruchel) and corporate asshole Jim Balsillie (Glenn Howerton) who joins the floundering company and brings he necessary business acumen to turn Mike's struggling company into something worth billions.

As It's Always Sunny fans know, Howerton can easily slide into playing a prick and Balsillie fits right in his wheelhouse. Perhaps the most interesting decision in the script is the choice not to cast him as the villain of the piece with Lazaridis, despite being ignorant of some sketchy business decisions, being equally culpable in BlackBerry's fall from prominence to simply, as one character describes it, that phone you owned before the iPhone.

Nights #2

After the much longer opening story that set up the world and characters of Nights, issue #2 offers a more straightforward tale involving Vince attempting to make it home for movie night with Gray after falling asleep on the bus. In order to make it home, he'll need to cut through the woods which, as everyone knows, is a really bad idea.

Warrior Nun - Isaiah 40:31

One the eve of Adriel's (William Miller) big coming out party both sides make preparations. Ava (Alba Baptista) pushes back against Michael's (Jack Meade) revelation of the roles both of them are fated to play in Adriel's defeat according to Reya's plan, Camilla (Olivia Delcán) makes a discovery about her connection to Adriel, and Father Vincent (Tristán Ulloa) finds himself with a crisis of faith in his devotion to someone who views and actions don't feel nearly as divine to the preacher as he once did (although it ultimately doesn't change his decision to follow the "angel").

G.I. JOE: A Real American Hero #301

After concluding the long-running comic series that ran over 40 years across different publishers, Larry Hama returns to G.I. JOE to continue his story in G.I. JOE: A Real American Hero #301 at yet another publisher in Image Comics. Following a couple of pages summarizing our heroes and villains for new readers, the story picks up after the events of G.I. JOE: A Real American Hero #300 wit the JOEs escaping from Cobra Island before being caught in the blast of Dr. Mindbinder's bioweapon activated by the new Serpentor.

A Murder at the End of the World - Homme Fatal

The opening episode of A Murder at the End of the World offers not one but two hooks to garner interest in the series. The first comes in a book reading by author and amateur detective Darby Hart (Emma Corrin) about her experiences tracking down a serial killer. The thread is almost entirely dropped for a second hook, Darby's invitation to an ultra-exclusive gathering thrown by a reclusive billionaire (Clive Owen) whose wife just so happens to be Darby's personal hero (Brit Marling, who also directed and wrote the episode). From there we see Darby meet other guests and make the journey to a remote private hotel in Iceland where the two threads converge and the former boyfriend (Harris Dickinson) seen in the flashbacks of her book reading is revealed to be another guest at the party.

Monarch: Legacy of Monsters - Aftermath / Departure

Set in the MonsterVerse, Monarch: Legacy of Monsters offers two separate storylines set decades apart but tied together through both family and the secret monster organization Monarch. The main storyline is set in 2015, one year after the events of Godzilla where Cate Randa (Anna Sawai) travels from the reclamation camps of San Francisco to Japan following her father's (Takehiro Hira) presumed death. Looking into an apartment her father kept in Tokyo, Cate will begin pulling on a thread that will lead to several discoveries about her father she isn't ready for starting with the second wife (Qyoko Kudo) and son Kentaro (Ren Watabe) neither Cate nor her mother (Tamlyn Tomita) knew existed.

NCIS: Sydney - Gone Fission

The weakest opening episode of any NCIS series, "Gone Fission" sets up the scenario where NCIS Special Agent Michelle Mackey (Olivia Swann) and NCIS Special Agent DeShawn Jackson (Sean Sagar) are assigned to work with local law enforcement to investigate the death of a United States seaman onboard the nuclear submarine parked in the Australian harbor. Providing local assistance are Australian Federal Police Sergeant JD Dempsey (Todd Lasance), AFP Liaison Officer Constable Evie Cooper (Tuuli Narkle), AFP Forensic Scientist Blue Gleeson (Mavournee Hazel), and AFP Forensic Pathologist Roy Penrose (William McInnes).

Wish

With nods to several Disney films, some more subtle than others, Wish is a blending of the look of Disney's historical cel animation with that of CGI, and features many of the classic tropes of its fairy tales including opening and closing sequences involving the story springing from the pages of a book. Along the way we'll also get talking animals, big musical numbers (which sport an obvious Broadway feel towards them making me suspect that show can't be too far off), and themes of dreams, magic, wonder, and wishing upon a star.

Our protagonist is Asha (Ariana DeBose) who loves her community of Rosas with all her heart. Our introduction to the kingdom comes in the way of Asha acting as tour guide for new arrivals to the land where its sorcerer king, King Magnifico (Chris Pine), takes the most heartfelt wishes from the kingdom and protects them in the castle, not allowing them to be crushed by the weight of the world, occasionally allowing a wish to be granted to one of his lucky subjects.

Napoleon

Napoleon is certainly goofier than expected, especially for a film coming from director Ridley Scott. Screenwriter David Scarpa's script paints the French soldier, and later emperor, who dominated Europe for the better part of two decades as an uncouth petulant cuck forever stuck between his grand ambitious destiny and his love for Joséphine (Vanessa Kirby). The unexpected version of Napoleon (Joaquin Phoenix) gives the film its unique feel but also obscures the military strategy of a man who conquered half of Europe by really only delving into the plans for his failed campaigns in Russia and at Waterloo.

Napoleon's military conquests are second in importance to the film, far less so, than Napoleon's relationship with his wife. That doesn't mean Scott denies us the expected huge battle sequences including Napoleon's final defeat at Waterloo. Given it's lighter tone and focus, the film's 158-minute running time is a drag with so much of Napoleon's history being crammed into a single narrative.

The Disappearance of Shere Hite

The Disappearance of Shere Hite examines the life and work of Shere Hite whose books on masturbation and female sexuality caused an immediate stir and brought conversations about sexuality, gender, love, autonomy, and gender, which are still debated go this day, to the forefront of national discourse. A researcher, feminist, and author, the documentary covers both Hite's work and the backlash they caused both to her personally and later to the feminist movement which eventually led to her to leave the United States, renounce her citizenship, and spend the remainder of her life in Europe.

Dakota Johnson, who also serves as executive producer on the film, narrates much of Hite's own writing for the documentary which also makes use of television and news footage, plenty of talking heads across the decades, and interviews from those who knew Hite before, during, and after the media storm her books caused. We also see Hite ground down by both personal and professional attack against her work, her conclusions, and her motivations.

Next Goal Wins

Based on a true story of a washed-up soccer coach exiled across the world and tasked with turning around the worst international soccer team in the world after their historic loss 31-0 on the world stage, Next Goal Wins is pretty much what you would expect following in the footsteps of films such as Cool Runnings, A League of Their Own, or The Mighty Ducks... just not as good.

While perfectly acceptable as family friendly TV entertainment for something like The Hallmark Channel, Next Goal Wins lacks the heart of a champion and is more notable for Kaimana's role portraying Jaiyah Saelua, the first openly non-binary and trans woman to compete in a FIFA World Cup qualifier, than the story of the coach (who does little on-screen to teach soccer and whose motivations seem to come and go when the film needs them to without ever providing any proper motivation to change his attitude towards himself, his situation, or the team).

Rick and Morty - Unmortricken

"Unmortricken" brings back both Rick Prime (Ian Cardoni) and Evil Morty (Harry Belden) as Rick finally catches up to the man who ruined his life. We get a nice set up with a montage showing us what Evil Morty has been up to since seeing him last. His solitude is interrupted by Rick's search for Rick Prime eventually leading Rick and both Mortys into being captured by Rick Prime, fighting their way out of a death chamber with other captured Ricks, and coming face to face with Rick Prime at the heart of his Omega Device which he used to wipe out not only Rick's version of Diane but all versions of Diane across time and space.

Darth Vader #40

The Dark Droids crossover continues with Darth Vader's return to Coruscant and a battle of wills between the Dark Lord of the Sith and the Emperor as Vader shows he is back in full control of his faculties and tests himself against the mettle of his master. While the end result of the issue is the droid plague spreading across the planet, and Vader making an unexpected alliance, the crux of the issues is student and master putting each other through the paces in a test of wills and a test of the power each unlocks from the Dark Side of the Force.

Bob's Burgers - Escape from Which Island?

Rich people are crazy. In the need of a personal chef for the retreat of his secret club, Mr. Fischoeder (Kevin Kline) hires Bob (H. Jon Benjamin) who spends most of his night on the secret island running from one of the guests turned rabid and surviving the storm which Fischoeder 's friends chose to ignore. Back home, Linda (John Roberts) gives Gene (Eugene Mirman), Tina (Dan Mintz), Louise (Kristen Schaal) a crash course on proper etiquette at a cocktail party (some of her advice is even good).

Batman #139

Taking place after the events of The Gotham War, Bruce Wayne is isolated from the rest of the Bat-Family working on his own while struggling to keep the influence of Batman of Zur-En-Arrh from affecting his actions. The new trouble for Batman comes with the Joker teasing his old foe with Riddler-like clues while hoping to release the more murderous personality from Bruce Wayne's subconscious.

When Evil Lurks

Staying away from the all the cliches of possession in movies, When Evil Lurks offers a chilling psychological tale of a world gone mad which begins with the discovery of a dead body by Pedro (Ezequiel Rodríguez) and his brother Jimi (Demián Salomón) leading them to a nearby neighbor whose son is grotesquely possessed. Known as a rotten, when his body dies the unborn demon will rise. Unable to simply kill the rotten because of the rules with dealing with an unborn demon, Pedro, Jimi, and their neighbor Ruiz (Luis Ziembrowski) take it on themselves to move the body before it dies only leading a chain of unfortunate events descending outside the countryside and affecting the nearby town where Pedro's ex-wife (Virginia Garófalo), children (Marcelo Michinaux and Emilio Vodanovich), and mother reside.

Warrior Nun - Corinthians 10:20-21

The fallout from the ill-fated heist actually works itself out quicker than expected. Imprisoned by the crown,  Ava (Alba Baptista) awakes in a dark space with demon creatures, and only after she's been sufficiently weakened does Father Vincent (Tristán Ulloa) remove the crown just as Miguel (Jack Meade) arrives for the timely save. Still coy about who he is and what he knows, the pair follow Adriel (William Miller) followers to a meeting where his acolytes are demonically possessing the scared locals who are running from the same hallucinatory fear gas let loose in the streets that Beatrice (Kristina Tonteri-Young) encounters. Reminding more than a little of Scarecrow gas from Batman comics and cartoons, the effect works well driving people into the church's arms.

The Irrational - The Real Deal

Maybe The Irrational should keep Alec Mercer (Jesse L. Martin) as far away from the FBI as possible. For another week, the show offers Mercer working a case outside of his consultant role for the FBI finding a rhythm that has been missing in the previous episodes. "The Real Deal" gives us Alec on a date with Rose (Karen David) that turns into an investigation of a forged masterpiece. It's easily the best episode of the series, in part to the chemistry between Martin and David, but also with the show capturing a bit more fun than the more gruesome cases Alec usually finds himself involved in.

The Killer

Movies about assassins almost always fall into the forgettable B-movie action-thriller variety, however there are some exceptions. Michael Fassbender stars in this slow burn thriller as a skilled assassin who fails an assignment. The first 20 minutes of the film show Fassbender waiting patiently for events to line up to take out his latest target focusing on both the methodical routine and readiness he sticks to and the large amount of downtime, boredom, and waiting involved. When the hit goes wrong, out killer flees the scene and makes his escape only to discover his employers have decided to take precautions and remove him as well.

Fassbender narrates much of the film. That, the story being broken into chapters, and the old school low-tech approach to his methods give the film a bit of a pulp noir feel as he sets out to put things right for himself and the girlfriend (Sophie Charlotte) who is attacked by his former employers in his absence.

Birds of Prey #3

The suicide mission of invading Themyscira begins. All things considered, Harley Quinn's insane plan works as the Birds of Prey are able to sneak onshore from the ocean and Black Canary is successfully able to find Sin. However, there are some unexpected twists involving Zealot making a pact with the island, Barda loosing her favorite thumping stick, and Green Arrow distracting Wonder Woman from events on the island not going exactly as planned.

Blue Eye Samurai

Set in 17th Century Japan, Blue Eye Samurai follows the vengeful quest of a blue-eyed ronin obsessed with the murder of four white men poisoning the country, any one of which might be her biological father. Since childhood, passing as male, Mizu (Maya Erskine) finds herself orphaned and being raised by a blind blacksmith and sword maker who can't see and doesn't hold his new apprentice's mixed heritage against her.

Offering flashback's to Mizu's childhood, and a short period of peace where she lived as a woman, the series focuses primarily on her tracking down the second of the four men the ronin has sworn to kill while picking up the unlikely sidekick Ringo (Masi Oka) and becoming frenemies with the bully from her childhood Taigen (Darren Barnet). A good chunk of the story is also centered around the spoiled Princess Akemi (Brenda Song) whose attempts to get out of arranged marriage will eventually collide with Mizu's revenge.

The Marvels

Mashing together heroes from the MCU with tenuous connections, The Marvels teams up Carol Danvers (Brie Larson), Kamala Khan (Iman Vellani), and Monica Rambeau (Teyonah Parris) whose powers become linked leading to the trio swapping places across the universe and forcing them to come together and work as a team to stop a crazy Kree (Zawe Ashton) with a hammer and the other half of Ms. Marvel's gauntlets causing trouble across the universe while attempting to simultaneously heal the Kree homeworld and get revenge against Carol Danvers.

Wingwomen

I'm a fan of heist movies and of director and star Mélanie Laurent, as well as co-star Adèle Exarchopoulos, so I was already predisposed to like the French film about two thieves (Exarchopoulos and Laurent) being forced into one more job by their their unreasonable employer (Isabelle Adjani). With a mostly female cast, driver Manon Bresch is added to the pair as a new trainee, the film has both a feminine and French feel more centered on the relationships between these women than the job at hand.

Savage Red Sonja #1

A new series begins with Red Sonja chasing the legend of King Gresh's Blood Ruby deep in the Red Dune Wastelands where only the brave or foolish would dare to tread. In the desert she meets the king's son and his bride to be who she saves from bandits as the trio continue together to the king's keep where the treasure is rumored to lie. The trio must also survive an attack from a tentacled sand beast before getting within sight of the keep, likely with its own horrors including perhaps the rumored ghost of King Gresh.

Wednesday - If You Don't Woe Me By Now / A Murder of Woes

The final two episodes of Wednesday's First Season dealing with Wednesday (Jenna Ortega) solving the mystery of the monster and the murders not once but twice with her realizing she's actually been duped into believing Xavier (Percy Hynes White) is the monster, although the identity of the actual monster hits closer to home, and she's completely mistaken about the identity of the woman controlling him. The penultimate episode of the season also brings a visit from Uncle Fester (Fred Armisen) while the final two episodes pull on various threads from the season allowing for Enid (Emma Myers) first transformation and make-up with her bestie, the culmination of Wednesday's visions and the prophecy, and Wednesday's friends standing up for her in the final battle including Eugene (Moosa Mostafa) and his bees.

White Widow #1

Yelena Belova gets a new series set in the not-so-sleepy suburbs where her attempt to settle down and find herself, while working as a assassin mentor via the Internet, is interrupted by her noticing the movements of a company known as Armament taking interest in her new home, buying out her favorite corner coffee shop, and sending assassins after her neighbor (assassins who include one of Yelena's old mentees).

Usagi Yojimbo: Ice and Snow #2

As Miyamoto Usagi deals with the harsh reality of their host who turns out to be Yuki-Onna, the woman of the snows who feeds on the life force of others, a surprised Jei learns of the closeness of his rival forcing his new gang back into the snow for a confrontation. The action from Usagi Yojimbo: Ice and Snow #2 comes both from Usagi saving Yukichi from the demon and Jei solidifying his control over his new followers before ordering all of them back out onto the mountain in search of the rabbit ronin.

Rick and Morty - That's Amorte

One lesson Rick and Morty never tires of returning to is how disastrous it is when Morty (Harry Belden) attempts to do the right thing. In one of the show's more bizarre concepts, Morty learns that the delicious food provided by Rick's (Ian Cardoni) pizza night comes from inside suicide victims who die on 41 Kepler B. Not everyone who dies has their innards turned into delicious pasta, only those who commit suicide. Unable to deal with the discovery, Morty explains to the locals, who have no idea what spaghetti is and are initially horrified by his cannibalism, what is happening only to lead to the downfall of their civilization.

Quiz Lady

Flirting with themes of fandom and family, Quiz Show stars Awkwafina as an isolated young woman whose main pleasures in life are her dog and the popular quiz show she has watched since she was four years-old. Her mother running away from her nursing home, leaving a large amount of debt, and the arrival of her sister (Sandra Oh) will push Anne out of her comfort zone. When her sister takes note of Anne's quiz knowledge, a plan begins to form for the pair to come up with the cash needed to pay off their mother's gambling debts to a loan shark (the same one who has stolen Anne's dog).

Bob's Burgers - Bully-ieve It or Not

The arrival of a new kid at school proves complicated for Zeke (Bobby Tisdale) who it turns out has an embarrassing past with Will. From the limited information provided, Gene (Eugene Mirman) and Louise (Kristen Schaal) assume Will bullied Zeke in grade school and decide to get revenge only to discover Zeke was the bully which hits especially hard for his best friend. Our adult storyline involves Bob (H. Jon Benjamin) having a conniption fit after Jimmy Pesto (Al Madrigal) steals his burger of the day idea for a new special at the restaurant.

Negaduck #2

After stealing Taurus Bulba's ship and setting off to find  King Midas’ enchanted gauntlet, needs a little help in finding the resting place of the gauntlet: Agony Island. Disguising himself as Darkwing Duck, the villain attempts to trick Morgana into helping him with the location. The witch easily sees through his ruse and takes some delight in punishing him before deciding to give him what he wants offering a warning about the dangers of the island and the limitations of the gauntlet which the villain completely ignores.

The History of The Super Friends

Secret Galaxy, formerly Toy Galaxy, takes us back in time for this look back at Super Friends.

Lockwood & Co. - This Will Be Us

I enjoyed the first episode of Lockwood & Co. that introduced us to psychically gifted teenager Lucy Carlyle (Ruby Stokes) in a world where ghost are real and overrunning the world. Much of the first episode deals with Lucy's training and her truly awful mother's (Sandra Huggett) attempts to make money on the daughter she can barely stand before eventually Lucy runs away in an attempt to make her own path. While one of the school's best students, an unfortunate incident which got several of her classmates killed and her best friend comatose, Lucy can't find employment at one of the larger firms due to leaving before her training is complete which leads her to the door of Lockwood & Co.

Priscilla

A far cry from the overindulgent train wreck of 2022's Elvis, writer/director Sofia Coppola's latest film casts the spotlight not on Elvis Pressley (Jacob Elordi) but on Priscilla (Cailee Spaeny) and how Elvis' fascination with her changed her life in both positive and disturbing ways. Those who place Elvis on a pedestal may take issue with Coppola's screenplay, as did Lisa Marie Pressley. However, the film is adapted from Priscilla's own 1985 biography, notably toning down some of the more shocking moments of their lives together, and Priscilla served and as an executive producer to the film.

A Deadly Invitation

Giving off strong Murder She Wrote vibes, Invitación a un Asesinato stars Regina Blandón as a famous true crime podcaster who her eccentric sister Olivia (Maribel Verdú) invites to a party along with several friends which will take place on her yacht and remote beach estate. In the kind of scene that only takes place in movies like this, Olivia provides motive for murder for all of her guests and when someone turns up dead Agatha (Blandón) will help a local police officer solve the crime.

The Irrational - Point and Shoot

With Alec Mercer (Jesse L. Martin) helping a legal team rather than the FBI for an episode, "Point and Shoot" almost feels like a different show. I wonder if this plot was a hold over from a slightly different pitch for the series, since the FBI involvement is minimally shoehorned in as a separate B-story. The main story involves the death of Kylie's (Travina Springer) friend in a police raid gone wrong and the court case by the victim's husband looking for justice. Malcolm-Jamal Warner stars as an expert witness for the other side whose involvement in the case convinces Alec to sign on leading to some interesting back and forth between the experts on the stand and a frank discussion about the use of experts in court cases.

Edenwood #1

Written and drawn by Tony Daniel, the first issue of Edenwood introduces us to Rion and his friends who get sucked into the expanding Edenwood. Unable to save his girlfriend, Rion finds himself apprenticed to a Demon Hunter fighting a war against demons and their rise across the world. Given the large three-year gap in Edenwood #1 its unclear whether Rion's story will continue from this point or if the series may jump back and forth in time filling Rion into becoming a demon hunter of his own.

Wednesday - Quid Pro Woe

No longer distracted by her parents, and using her friends' attempts to celebrate her birthday by tricking them into some sleuthing, Wednesday (Jenna Ortega) turns her attention on an image from a vision leading her to the abandoned Gates Mansion where someone has been recently staying. Already perturbed at being tricked and dragged into another adventure, Enid (Emma Myers) and Tyler (Hunter Doohan) are in an even less forgiving mood after being attacked by the monster. With no proof to show Sheriff Galpin (Jamie McShane), Wednesday finds herself in hot water with both the sheriff and Principal Weems (Gwendoline Christie).
