As Zhilan (Yvonne Chapman), Nicky (Olivia Liang), and Henry (Eddie Liu) work together to use the soul-sucking sword to rid Pei-Ling (Vanessa Kai) of Xiao, the imprisoned Xiao sends her own apprentice to use the trust Bo (Ben Levin) has built up to betray Nicky and allow his shifu to take over the body of her shifu. With Bo throwing a wrench into their plans, Xiao's spirit is able to escape into the body of one of Nicky's friends as she contemplates the next step of her plan.
"Villains" also offers various B-stories of Evan (Gavin Stenhouse) and Althea (Shannon Dang) uncovering a larger surveillance operation around the neighborhood when looking into a potential stalker, Jin (Tzi Ma) prepares for an important interview, and Ryan (Jon Prasida) attempts to raise Sebastian's (JB Tadena) spirits which leads to an unfortunate situation when he becomes Xiao's temporary host before returning to the body of Pei-Ling by the end of the episode as Bo betrays Nicky once more.
