Fortune cookies are made from alien poop. And fortunes from the cookies are real. Oh, and Jerry (Chris Parnell) is fated to sleep with his mother. That's the basic premise for a wacky episode of Rick and Morty as steps in after Jerry receives an odd and specific fortune that the rest of the family laughs off. The more Rick investigates the more he suspects something odd is indeed going on, leading to a confrontation with a business woman (and her many, many troops) and a discovery behind the alien origins of fortune cookies. Things get a bit weird after that.
While it keeps to the season theme of "one-joke" episodes, "Final DeSmithation" doesn't offer more but chooses to wholly embrace the wacky set-up and goes simply for fun without the need for character development (although, in the end, Rick does make a new friend). Jerry is in trouble, and although he doesn't want to do anything about it Rick will step up leading to a fight in a fortune cookie factory with mercenaries downing fortunes that make them unbeatable. As a side note, a trip to the zoo by the rest of the family off-screen does pay off in a bizarre post-credit sequence that suggests that the Smith's current Earth may be a bit more like intergalactic cable than their last one.
