NCIS: Hawai'i - Prisoners' Dilemma

The Second Season of NCIS: Hawai'i kicks of with Tennant (Vanessa Lachey) and Ernie (Jason Antoon) returning to the islands with Torres (Wilmer Valderrama) and Knight (Katrina Law) in tow looking for Maxwell (Michael Weston) who has arrived in Hawaii before them and, after taking a measure of revenge against Parker (Gary Cole), now turns his attention on another face from the past (John Billingsley) who he believes has wronged him. Much of the episode features a stand-off between Maxwell and Tennant and Torres while the team looks for the bomb he has hidden nearby and tries to identify the target of his immanent attack.

The premiere offers multiple glimpses of Lucy (Yasmine Al-Bustami) and Whistler (Tori Anderson) in cohabitated bliss (which hopefully the writers won't screw up any time soon), and, to a lesser extent, plays a bit on Ernie's attraction to Knight and Torres' feelings for Tennant. We also get the introduction of Cher Alvarez as a new bomb tech, and a celebratory dinner for both teams to close out the episode prior to Torres and Knight taking their collar back to the mainland. The second-half of the story works better than the season premiere of NCIS but Maxwell is still a bit of an over-the-top villain for the series with a rather pedestrian plan given the lengthy build-up.
