A straightforward adaptation of the first episode of The Mandalorian, The Mandalorian #1 is exactly what you would expect introducing us to bounty hunter Din Djarin and his acceptance of the job which will change his life forever. Fans of the character may enjoy themselves, and there is enjoyment in seeing the character come to life on the comic page, but nothing new is added here, or given more depth or insight, which might pur you to seek it out.
Covering events already shown on The Mandalorian, the only real question about the series is why wait nearly three years to adapt the character's story to comics. And why not, rather than simply restate events, use the medium to further explore Din Djarin and/or the various characters from the series which would all seem to have a ripe backstory to explore?
