The appropriately titled fourth episode of the series gives us a Mummy-lite excavation into the tomb of Alexander the Great. There's not much in the way of deciphering clues as Steven (Oscar Isaac) and Layla (May Calamawy) fight a creepy monster and then simply stumble around until the find what they came for. And, as foreshadowed, the truth about Layla's father is revealed at an inopportune time as they also lead Arthur Harrow (Ethan Hawke) straight to the prize.
The episode's most notable moments all come in the last 10 minutes of the episode after Steven gets shot and wakes up as a patient in an asylum, with an inordinate amount of nods and Easter Eggs to characters and events we've seen so far in the series, with an Egyptian hippopotamus thrown in. Now it's time for Marc to question everything he knows about his life. This final sequence sets up some more interesting possibilities. Hopefully they will be more successfully executed than the tomb segments and won't feel as cribbed from Legion as they do here. "The Tomb" is a fine middle episode to the series, with a fun ending, but it's hard not to feel a bit let down seeing all the opportunities to do more with the tomb.
