The Second Season of Stargirl finds Courtney (Brec Bassinger) forced to attend summer school and deal with the arrival of Eclipso in Blue Valley. It will be a tumultuous season for the new JSA as Eclipso targets various members of the team forcing Yolanda (Yvette Monreal) to quit her role as Wildcat and Rick (Cameron Gellman) to end up in prison after loosing his temper.
The season offers a number of flashbacks to the original team, including (in the season's stand-out episode) the big reveal of how the JSA were able to defeat Eclipso and the consequences from the encounter which was the beginning of the end for the group. We also see the fallout of season one on several characters and the struggle for Mike (Trae Romano) to find a role within the group.
Along with returning cast, including Sportsmaster (Neil Hopkins) and Tigress (Joy Osmanski) who will apparently be sticking around for next season, and a new big bad to fight, we also get the first appearances of Thunderbolt (Jim Gaffigan), Charles McNider (Alex Collins), and the Shade (Jonathan Cake), and a black-and-white episode when Stargirl and Cindy Burman (Meg DeLacy) get trapped within the Shadowlands.
Available on both Blu-ray and DVD, all 13 episodes are included here. Other highlights include the return of Green Lantern's daughter Jennie (Ysa Penarejo) and the tease of her brother and what next season may bring, and the season finale where Sylvester Pemberton (Joel McHale) finally arrives in Blue Valley as a potential mentor for our plucky teen hero and in which Stargirl relies on a combination of both friend and foe to take down Eclipso (leading to some characters in new roles next season).
