Hawkeye doesn't skimp on action in the finale was we get Kate (Hailee Steinfeld) vs. Yelena (Florence Pugh), Echo (Alaqua Cox) taking some vengeance, and our two archers struggling to stay alive against wave after wave of baddies thrown their way by the Kingpin (Vincent D’Onofrio). There's trick arrows, characters jumping off a buildings, and the Kingpin shrugging off everyone's best shots. Hell, even the ridiculous swordsman gets into the action, albeit not on the side you would expect given events of previous episodes.
Given how much happens in the final hour, if the show skimps a bit it's between Yelena and Clint (Jeremy Renner). While I think the sudden conclusion to their fight works, there's so much more story there that simply fades into missed opportunities. Kate's decision-making leads her to need a family to spend Christmas with the Bartons seem more than willing to accommodate her (but apparently not Yelena?). The series was successful in both exploring an older and more reflective Hawkeye and working as an origin story for the next character to take on that name (and she's already got a costume).
