Now seven episodes in to the new season, Leverage finally feels back with the new characters properly integrated and all put to use in "The Double-Edged Sword Job." After one of their previous clients who Leverage helped hide years ago comes to them in a panic after being found by her abusive ex-husband, the team starts investigating a nearby town's enhanced security system which, if it goes global, could mean the end of privacy. Unable to attack the system, the team instead targets its high-strung creator (Lawrence Kao) hoping to derail the sale and keep it out of the hands of those who would abuse it for their own ends.
Where some of Leverage: Redemption episodes have felt at times like they were made on the cheap, the budget here is put to good use in "The Double-Edged Sword Job" as they hack the creator in order to take down his smart house. Everybody gets to do something here including Sophie (Gina Bellman) and Parker (Beth Riesgraf) grifting as a pair of consultants, Harry (Noah Wyle) choking out a guard, and Eliot (Christian Kane) acting as bait. Eliot's short time in lockup does introduce him to a local US Marshall (Andrea Navedo) who, let's say, has a very distinctive reaction to their encounter. Could love be in the air?
