The theme of couples runs through the various storylines in "Choice." The most interesting of the threads involves Kerwin Tan (Ludi Lin) choosing Zhilan (Yvonne Chapman) over his family when his father's head of security uncovers what he's been up to. While his choice leaves him with literal blood on his hands, it does cement the pair's partnership to work together to acquire the remaining weapons. However, they might not have one piece of important information Nicky (Olivia Liang) uncovers from her aunt's journals in that the weapons' true power can only be unlocked at the forge where they were created.
While helping Evan (Gavin Stenhouse) through a case that allows for another vigilante vignette for our hero, Nicky also comes to the conclusion that she wants to explore a romantic relationship with Henry (Eddie Liu) rather than with her ex-boyfriend. Other storylines involve Nicky's parents spicing things up a bit at the restaurant, Althea (Shannon Dang) and her husband consider their legal options (and possible repercussions), and we get the highs and lows of Ryan's (Jon Prasida) relationship with Joe (Bradley Gibson) who turns out to be a big success with the Shens but less so with their son when he lets the other shoe drop about moving for a new job in Chicago.
