Batman: Soul of the Dragon leans heavily into 1970s style with a tale of Batman (David Giuntoli) teaming up with the other former students of his former sensei (James Hong) to prevent evil being unleashed in by the Kobra Cult. I was quite impressed with the first-half of the movie, although the straight-to-video movie reminded me more and more of Batman vs Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles which also started off quite strong but lost its way a bit in its second-half.
Bruce's former classmates are all modified versions of DC characters. We get the deadly Shiva (Kelly Hu), the angry Ben Turner (Michael Jai White), and Richard Dragon (Mark Dacascos) who brings the foursome back together again. Kobra, and the "god" they plan to release from his mystical prison, turns out to be the weakest aspect of the story. However, there's quite a bit of fun with Richard Dragon putting the band back together and flashbacks to a young Bruce Wayne learning skills which would later be applied as Batman.
