"Ray of F*ing Sunshine" provides several revelations as an old friend (Felix Mallard) of Rendell Locke begins staying with Ellie (Sherri Saum) and Rufus (Coby Bird), and both the past of Dodge (Laysla De Oliveira), something Tyler (Connor Jessup) will no doubt struggle with, and the location of the Omega Key are revealed. Although Dodge has the other keys, the Locke family has the one key she wants above all others along with knowing what it unlocks (although not what is on the other side of the Black Door).
Nina (Darby Stanchfield) turns to the bottle following the family's recent encounter with Sam (Thomas Mitchell Barnet) which makes her more aware of the keys and her experiences with them. She's also the one who discovers the use of the Mending Key and its cabinet which fixes her broken mug but is unable to bring Rendell's remains back to life. Her anger over loss, the maddening events of recent days, and the failure of magic leads Tyler to discover the Omega Key while Dodge uses the Head Key to make a similar discovery. With only two episodes remaining in the show's First Season, the race to the Black Door begins.
