Warrior Nun - Matthew 7:13
After rescuing Ava (Alba Baptista) from Sister Lilith (Lorena Andrea), Shotgun Mary (Toya Turner) and Lilith continue to battle as each tracks Ava and JC (Emilio Sakraya). Realizing JC has questions, but unable to offer the truth, Ava offers a simplified version of her story (removing all the mystical aspects), but by the end of the episode he'll have far more questions. Baptista and Andrea are the stars here who put on a series of great action scenes between the two of them as Mary wants to bring Ava back to the order and Lilith wants to cut the halo out of her (a decision which doesn't end well for the nun when exposing the Halo summons a Tarask).
Father Vincent (Tristán Ulloa) makes an peace offering to Jillian Salvius (Thekla Reuten) raising questions about his true loyalties while Cardinal Duretti (Joaquim de Almeida) attempts to bring Sister Beatrice (Kristina Tonteri-Young) over to his side in the rising conflict within the order. The actions of both can be questioned as either doing the right thing, from their point of view, or attempting to position themselves better for what is to come. Beatrice's response, to stay loyal to God rather than any specific orders from the church, again shows us what warrior nuns can be and offers a nice contrast to Lilith's selfishness which drives so much of the episode. The tease of the secret workstation within her company, shows us another (far more personal) reason for Salvius' attempts to break into the void which, now armed with the shield again, she may be able to do. Is that what Father Vincent wanted all along, or was his main goal to broker peace and attempt to protect Ava?
