The Boys - Get Some

The third episode of the series delivers a super-hero race between A-Train (Jessie T. Usher) and the new up-and-coming speedster known as Shockwave (Mishka Thébaud). A big publicity stunt helping to sell both the heroes and used to also push the company's agenda, A-Train knows he cannot afford to lose his spot on the team (as the show underlines just how much the heroes rely on their fame and how it might be the most powerful weapon which can be used against them). Staking out A-Train's girlfriend (Brittany Allen), the Boys discover the speedster's dirty little secret involving a drug that enhances his abilities but makes him loose control. A-Train's reliance on it brings it to the Boys' attention as well as reveal the super-hero was hopped-up on it when he ran through Hughie's (Jack Quaid) girlfriend.

The Boys add another member as Butcher (Karl Urban) taps an old friend with an unfortunate name (Laz Alonso) to join the group. The reunion between Frenchie (Tomer Capon) and Mother's Milk is funny while also providing yet another example of what a bastard Butcher can be to get what he wants. The new member is smart enough to see that A-Train isn't the only one in the relationship getting hopped up on the drug, offering another avenue of information for the guys. Hughie continues to prove himself useful by bugging the apartment of A-Train's girlfriend and has another run-in with Starlight (Erin Moriarty) who is feeling guilty over letting the marketing department push her into a sexier costume.

Other plot points include Homelander (Antony Starr) and Queen Maeve's (Dominique McElligott) team-up which exposes a bit about the heroes' former fling (and suggests that Maeve knows just how fucking crazy the world's most wholesome hero actually is). Homelander looses control on a relatively easy takedown making one wonder how even the best marketing company around can keep his image so squeaky clean when his behavior is anything but. And, tying into the earlier episodes, the Deep (Chace Crawford) discovers the remains of Translucence and the Boys threat about how they are only getting started.
