Holmes & Watson

Holmes & Watson sets a new bar for the worst Sherlock Holmes adaption ever made. It's likely it will keep that honor for several years, if not decades. Will Ferrell and John C. Reilly don't so much play Sherlock Holmes and Dr. James Watson as reprise their roles from Step-Brothers playacting what they mistakenly believe 19th Century versions of the characters must have been like.

The script by Etan Cohen is little more than window dressing for the two actors to scream at each other and act as dumb as possible. The film opens with an excruciating sequence featuring young Sherlock bullied by mean children and goes downhill from there with a meandering plot concerning Sherlock's inability to love and the plot of new villain who may or may not be Moriarty (Ralph Fiennes). Extras include alternate takes, deleted scenes, and featurettes on Reilly and Ferrell reuniting, the film's cast, and the sex appeal of Mrs. Hudson.
