Stranger Things - Chapter Three: The Pollywog
The primary focus of "Chapter Three" is to introduce everyone in the group to Dustin's (Gaten Matarazzo) new pet who only Will (Noah Schnapp) makes a (pretty damn obvious) connection to the Upside Down. Meanwhile, Nancy (Natalia Dyer) is forced to deal with the fallout from the drunkenly-honest outburst at the party and the break-up with her boyfriend she doesn't even remember. The further appearances of the extra-douchey Billy (Dacre Montgomery) seem to be in place, other than to simply have a mean kid around, to make us forget and/or forgive the lesser-dickishness of Steve (Joe Keery) was for most of last season.
And, in the storyline I've been waiting for, Eleven (Millie Bobby Brown) finally leaves the cabin after Hopper (David Harbour) breaks his word. This should lead into a reunion with Mike (Finn Wolfhard), although with what a huge dick he's turned into in Season Two I think she could do better, but the show's writers disappoint while falling back on the oldest romcom cliche in the book with poor Eleven seeing Mike and Max (Sadie Sink) together, getting the wrong impression, and leaving without revealing herself. In a common thread of the season so far, a small nugget from this episode leads directly into the next as Will decides to take some advice from Bob (Sean Astin) about facing his fears. While initially sounding quite solid, it turns out to be the worst fucking advice of all-time as the consequences are dire.
