The Flash - The New Rogues

"The New Rogues" introduces another classic Flash (Grant Gustin) villain in the Mirror Master (Grey Damon). Offering us flashbacks to Mirror Master's origins, in which the thug is trapped within a mirror during the accelerator explosion, the episode allows for the limited return of Leonard Snart (Wentworth Miller). Although I prefer the classic take on the character, which we do get reference to in Harry (Tom Cavanagh) mentioning the Mirror Master of his Earth, it's good to see another classic Flash villain introduced on the show.

While the Mirror Master works well, I can't say the same for Top (Ashley Rickards) who, despite an useful power-set, comes off as ridiculous as the unfortunate name Cisco (Carlos Valdes) saddles her with. Thankfully her character is letting more than window dressing here, allowing Jesse Quick (Violett Beane) to get her first takedown as a super-hero. That said, Jesse's mixed success as a hero works well, but it seems her days in Central City as a hero are over as nearly as quickly as they have begun. The choice to bring in another Harrison Wells from the Multiverse as Harry and Jesse head home to Earth-2 seems like one of the scientist's less brilliant ideas. I'll be curious to see just how the new Harry works out beginning next week. And, in terms of ongoing plotlines, Alchemy is absent here but Caitlin (Danielle Panabaker finds some unexpected side-effects when she uses her new powers to help free Barry from the Mirror Master's trap.
