Atomic Robo and the Temple of Od #1

Set in 1938 during WWII, the Japanese have captured a Chinese scientist who has made a breakthrough in zero-point technology. The U.S. Military sends a reluctant Atomic Robo to investigate, find Dr. Lu Huang, and discover if the rumors of the Japanese creating their own teleforce gun are true. Of course, the military might have ulterior motives in finding Dr. Huang.

In Shanghai, Robo will meet the Chinese resistance and encounter old friend Helen McAlister before being captured by the Chinese military led by a super-powered soldier in Manchukuo. Let's just say Robo's sense of whimsy doesn't help him make friends.

Atomic Robo and the Temple of Od #1 is a solid issue to set-up the latest Atomic Robo mini-series. Filled with homages to the opening scene of Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom as well as the comic's trademark humor, tie-ins to previous issues, and action-packed science adventuring, I can't wait to see where we go from here. Worth a look.
