Shadowhunters - Raising Hell

In a last-ditch effort to restore Clary's (Katherine McNamara) memories the Shadowhunters seek out Magnus Bane (Harry Shum Jr.), the High Warlock of Brooklyn and the man responsible for stealing Clary's memories years ago. Initially reluctant to help, Magnus comes around after the Shadowhunters save him from Valentine's (Alan Van Sprang) men. However, the spell to retrieve Clary's memories from the memory demon who holds them goes awry forcing the young woman to sacrifice any attempt to retrieve them in order to save Jace's (Dominic Sherwood) life. Sorry Clary, no answers for your this week.

For a show already struggling to not go too far over-the-top or get lost in soap-opera melodrama, the introduction of Magnus Bane doesn't help things. His obvious attraction for Alec (Matthew Daddario), while interesting, isn't handled well (nor is Alec's reaction during the spell). The choice of hiding Clary's memories from the group allows the Mortal Cup to stay hidden and forces Clary to continue relying on Jace, Alec, and Isabelle (Emeraude Toubia). Teased at the end of last week's episode, Simon (Alberto Rosende) leaves the Shadowhunters and begins his own journey as he realizes that Camille (Kaitlyn Leeb) has turned him into a vampire.
