The Blacklist - Mr. Gregory Devry

Lizzie's (Megan Boone) new role as a consultant begins not with hunting a member of The Blacklist but with the arrest of an unknown man (Jake Weber) claiming to be the real Raymond Reddington (James Spader). Knowing sensitive information only the true Reddington should know, including the location of the Shell Island Retreat (an assembly of high-level criminals), the impostor attempts to prove that he is in fact the true Raymond Reddington. Denied a gun or further field experience, Lizzie's new role will take some getting used to while also opening her up to the kinds of unexpected and unprovoked attacks which close the episode.

The set-up of the episode which begins with the murder of Mr. Kaplan's (Susan Blommaert) associates and the kidnapping of an FBI agent (Marsha Stephanie Blake) who confirms Reddington is working for the Bureau is a little convoluted until you realize that our Red is behind the entire masquerade. His recent public assistance to Elizabeth Keen has begun whispers in the underworld that Reddington has been working as an informant for the FBI. The impostor was a way to put those rumors to rest, and allow Red to kill a member (Vincenzo Amato) of Shell Island (a Dark City reference?) responsible for ordering the hit on Kaplan's people and who had been the instigator in the attempts to turn the group against Reddington. His willingness to help the other members escape protects Reddington's "good name," for awhile longer while also allowing him to kill off another rival in the group (which might be the entire point of The Blacklist).
