While helping Watson (Lucy Liu) and the NYPD investigate the murder of a woman who, without her knowledge, was turned into a drug mule during her surgery south of the border, Sherlock Holmes (Jonny Lee Miller) also discovers that his sponsor Alfredo (Ato Essandoh) has been taking out some aggression against a former client in a way that could land him in hot water with the NYPD.
Although less shocking than the murder case, Afredo's B-story is the more entertaining of the two and ushers in a change to Holmes' life. Refusing to allow Alfredo to harm himself any further, and ignoring his sponsor's attempt to wave off any help, Holmes' actions of providing Alfredo with a solid alibi while clearing him of the crimes the man actually committed not only solves Alfredo's immeadiate concerns but also restructures Holmes' relationship with man who has become a member of his small circle of friends. The outcome of the situation also forces Holmes to find a new sponsor suggesting that the show will soon be adding a new recurring character to the show.
