A LEGO Justice League movie? Okay, you've got my attention. The only real negative to LEGO DC Comics Super Heroes: Justice League vs. Bizarro League is its length. Clocking in around 45-minutes it's a stretch to say you're getting your moneys worth with this new LEGO DC Comics Super Heroes "movie." That doesn't mean there isn't an awful lot of fun to be had for fans of LEGO and DC Comics.
The plot takes place after the events of Batman Be-Leaguered (also included here as a nice extra) as a distrustful Batman (Troy Baker) has joined the Justice League which now faces a new threat with the return of Bizarro (Nolan North) who creates Bizarro duplicates of the other members of the Justice League to help him save the lifeless odd square-shaped planet which Darkseid (Tony Todd) has taken an interest in because of the powerful crystals Superman (North) has convinced Bizarro are helpless citizens he needs to protect.
Definitely aimed at kids who will no doubt get a kick out of the Bizarro characters odd behavior, the film features a nice selection of characters including Batman, Superman (who is constantly embarrassed by Bizarro's behavior), Guy Gardner (Diedrich Bader), Cyborg (Khary Payton), Penguin, and Superman and Wonder Woman (Kari Wahlgren)and each of their Bizarro doppelgangers (including an easily frightened Greenzarro who is constantly creating a teddy bear with his power ring for comfort).
The movie also features early scenes of Bizarro's return to Metropolis to "save" people, the Flash (James Arnold Taylor), Batman, and Cyborg taking on Grodd, Captain Cold, Deathstroke, and Wonder Woman putting a stop to a rampaging Giganta (April Winchell). There are also appearances from a number of other characters including Green Arrow, Hawkman, and Plastic Man.
Available in both Blu-ray and DVD, extras include an exclusive Batzarro LEGO minifig, a 10-minute behind-the-scenes featurette, and the televised animated short Batman Be-Leaguered and bloopers for Batman Be-Leaguered. For a full price DVD or Blu-ray it's still a tad pricey for less than two hours of content, but fans should enjoy themselves as what we do get is an awful lot of fun (and the Batzarro minifig is pretty cool).
[Warner Home Video, Blu-ray $24.98 / DVD $19.98]
