Airing a second episode of the series in as many nights, "Forget Me Nots" raises the stakes as the Scorpion team is called on to stop a nuclear war. Over the course of the season the show has worked best when tying its more believable cases to particular character or ongoing theme and has struggled at times when attempting a more hyped looming threat with the lives of millions (or here billions) in the balance. While the latest episode still works, it does get away from the writers on more than one occasion offering some head-scratching moments and questionable plot holes.
After stealing the remote controls to launch a nuclear strike during the Clinton administration a group has finally figure out how to reverse engineer and hijack a nuclear silo allowing them to order a nuclear strike. Glossing over the fact that the codes and hardware in the theives possession would be hopelessly out of date by this point, or giving the military any option to lock them out or to order the nuclear site that is known to be their target to stand down, the U.S. Government calls on Walter (Elyes Gabel) and his friends to stop the attack before it happens -with a countdown clock (that runs out!) no less.
Far from the show's best episode, "Forget Me Nots" does offer some fun scenes including Cabe (Robert Patrick) relishing his temporary mind boost and Walter struggling with the right words to Paige (Katharine McPhee), Toby's (Eddie Kaye Thomas) human bowling, and Ralph (Riley B. Smith) to stay in Los Angeles and not follow Drew to Portland. There are some big logic holes to the episode such as the fact despite Happy's (Jadyn Wong) last-minute heroics the team is still unable to recover the briefcase before the launch should have occurred by the genius' calculations, but there's enough of the show's antics (and a pretty cool science experiment by Ralph) to help it through the rougher patches.
