The Librarians - And the Apple of Discord

The return of magic into the world leads to the awakening of two tribes of dragons, a theft, and the threat of an all-out war which would destroy most of the world. To prevent just such events from occurring Flynn (Noah Wyle) returns to the annex to act as arbiter but due to a slight misunderstanding and specific customs finds his role usurped by Ezekiel (John Kim) who is unprepared to deal with his new duties, especially when they include leading a conclave whose members include Dulaque (Matt Frewer).

There's quite a bit to enjoy about "And the Apple of Discord" starting with the return of Noah Wyle as Flynn's presence not only gives the team an actual leader but also allows for the show to tease us with more of a possible relationship with Eve (Rebecca Romijn). Unable to act as arbiter, Flynn heads into the field with Eve, Jake (Christian Kane), and Cassandra (Lindy Booth) only to discover the entire situation is a set-up and to each find themselves momentarily under the power of the Apple of Discord which brings out the worst in each member of the team when holding the artifact including having Cassandra brutally attack a very confused Lamia (Ann Brandt).

Even with Flynn back the episode still finds time to showcase each member of the team as they break into the dragon's lair and then turn on each other as the apple leads each one of them, one-by-one, down a dangerous path. The latest episode also reveals a bit about Jenkins' (John Larroquette) past which we learn is linked to that of the show's major villain. I've got a guess as to how deep that connection goes, but we'll have to wait and see just how much the show wants to reveal about their relationship and the choice that came between them more than 1,000 years ago.
