Rookie Blue - Two Truths and a Lie

Picking up the thread of last week's episode, 15 Division comes together to search for the man (Andrew Butcher) who they believe murdered and stuffed a beloved teacher into the trunk of his own car. Believing the recently-pardoned convict may have been doing a favor for a friend on the inside, Swarek (Ben Bass) and Andy (Missy Peregrym) begin questioning suspects in the prison who knew the man best.

Finding his father's (Nicholas Campbell) name on the list, which he conveniently forgets to mention to McNally, Swarek steers the investigation to every other name to avoid sitting down with the violent drunk who raised him. However when the collared murder suspect attempts to kill himself while in police custody, Swarek has no choice but to open up a bit about his past and introduce his girlfriend to his father in hopes of finding out what the man Sam sent to prison years ago knows about a murder with no motive and a suspected killer willing to die rather than talk.

Finding no motive for the murder of the teacher, Traci (Enuka Okuma) takes a closer look at the man's twin brother (Seann Gallagher) who she believes may have been the real target given his work foreclosing on the homes of several people with motives for wanting him dead. However, the true motive for the crime had nothing to do with the twin brother or his work and far more to do with the dead man's secret love life. With the help of Sam's father, Andy discovers that the nice couple (Brandon Coffey, Liane Balaban) housing the critically injured murder suspect may not be the victims than the 15 Division originally believed.

The introduction of Sam's father pushes Andy and Sam's relationship through a wall where it has, up until this point, failed to get past while queuing Andy in a bit more on Sam's past (including the lie that sent his father to prison). Other subplots of the week involve Chloe (Priscilla Faia) and Epstein (Gregory Smith) still dealing with the fallout of her shooting and surprise husband, Traci finding the tiniest bit of common ground with her ex-husband, and Gail's (Charlotte Sullivan) misguided attempt to create Nick (Peter Mooney) an online dating profile.
