The Liars and Alison (Sasha Pieterse) return to Rosewood with a pact to come clean about everything to Detective Holbrook (Sean Faris), but Alison' decision to call an audible and lie about where she's been the past two years leads to a brand new set of secrets Aria (Lucy Hale), Spencer (Troian Bellisario), Hanna (Ashley Benson), and Emily (Shay Mitchell) will be forced to keep involving a nonexistent kidnapping plot.
With Aria still freaking out about shooting Shana (Aeriel Miranda) the situation is not helped by an anonymous text message suggesting the truth about what went down in New York would sink the Liars for good. Spencer gets some good news with the return of Toby (Keegan Allen) but the continued absence of Mrs. DiLaurentis (Andrea Parker) and the odd behavior of Jason (Drew Van Acker) has everyone concerned even causing Emily and Hanna to tail Alison's brother in hopes digging up the truth. Sadly, the only who digs up anything of interest is Alison's new dog Pepe who discovers the whereabouts of Alison's mother in their back yard.
The murder of Mrs. DiLaurentis and the number of lies the Liars will have to tell to cover Alison's story sets up a big piece of the current season, at least until the inevitable return of A. It will be interesting to see how quickly the shootings of both Shana and Ezra (Ian Harding) are worked back to the forefront and possibly begin to be questioned by Holbrook. The altercation between Alison and Mona (Janel Parrish), who now seems firmly back in villain mode, suggests there'll be plenty of drama at Rosewood High for senior year as well as Mona's reign of revenge is about to begin.
