Almost Human - Disrupt

When the security system of computer-controlled smart home malfunctions killing a high ranking executive of the security company and his wife, Kennex (Karl Urban) and Dorian (Michael Ealy) are called in to investigate and discover whether or not the malfunction was caused in retaliation to a similar accident involving the death of a teenager exactly one year ago. Over the course of the case Kennex continues to find amusement in a running gag of spreading various vicious rumors about the reasons for Detective Paul's (Michael Irby) temporary leave.

After talking with another executive (Suleka Mathew) of the security company who will eventually become one of the killer's targets, Kennex and Dorian begin investigating the death threats made to the company over the past year while Detective Stahl (Minka Kelly) talks with the still grieving mother (Diana Pavlovská) of the teenage who was killed a year prior to the new murders.

When both investigations turn up empty Stahl and Kennex go undercover using one of  Rudy's (Mackenzie Crook) old hacker handles in search of finding a hacker (Reece Thompson) capable of the sabotage. Although their costumes are ridiculous, the episode has fun pointing this out when more than one of the suspects takes them for cops in obvious costumes. When their hacker is proven innocent by being in custody during another killing he agrees to help the police find the hacker (Laine MacNeil) taking revenge for the death of her friend on the anniversary of his death.

In the episode's B-story Dorian becomes distracted after catching Rudy (Mackenzie Crook) messing with his memory during his recharging time offline that results in hallucinatory memories that someone planted in his memory core years ago being brought back to the surface. Although the murders are eventually solved, this new ongoing mystery appears to just be getting started as Kennex and Rudy will have to keep an eye on their friend while not letting anyone suspect their might be a problem with Dorian's programming that could lead to his deactivation.
