Transformers Prime: Beast Hunters - Evolution

Even with the recent loss of the Insecticons, Megatron (Frank Welker) is wary enough to sacrifice Project Predacon once he realizes that Shockwave's (David Sobolov) first Predacon pet has the ability to transform, is far more sentient that Megatron believed, and that the creature has a desire to lead his people once again, possibly becoming a rival for Megatron's control of the Decepticons.

Not wanting to create another enemy, Megatron uses Starscream's (Steve Blum) suggestion and allows the Autobots to find and destroy Shockwave's laboratory and the Predacon clones taking any responsibility from Megatron or the Decepticons. Once learning his brothers are in danger the Predacon heads to the lab to battle Ultra Mangus (Michael Ironside), Wheeljack (James Horan), and eventually Optimus Prime (Peter Cullen), but is too late to stop the clones from being destroyed.

Although the Predacon clones are destroyed, Ultra Magnus is severally wounded and The Forge is destroyed before he and Wheeljack are eventually saved by Optimus Prime. Although Megatron's treachery goes unnoticed by the lone remaining Predacon it seems inevitable that the secret will leak before the end of the season.

Megatron and Starscream are equally devious here in the plan they hatch and execute to remove a possible threat to the Decepticons. Despite all his research and the time he has spent on the project, Shockwave's inherent loyalty makes it inveitable that he too will go along with the plan. The episode also gives us a friendly moment between Ultra Magnus and Wheeljack while the pair are getting their butts kicked by the Predacon and reminds us that there is something strong that an army, even if the Autobots had to travel across the galaxy to find it.
