Transformers Prime: Beast Hunters - Deadlock

Now that's a finale. Two deaths, one resurrection, the restoration of Cyberton, tons of action, and plenty of tearful farewells - Transformers Prime goes out with a bang in its Third Season (and series) finale. Things aren't quite over as the characters will return for a straight-to-DVD full-feature movie this October entitled Transformers Prime: Beast Hunters - Predacons Rising.

With the Earth about to be terraformed by the rebuilt Omega Lock under Megatron's control the Autobots, and their human allies, work together to not only save the planet but capture the Omega Lock intact and use it to restore Cybertron to its former glory. Although Ultra Magnus (Michael Ironside) and the Wreckers draw the short-straw here, most of the other series regulars each get their moment to shine including Optimus Prime (Peter Cullen) and Megatron's (Frank Welker) final battle, Smokescreen's (Nolan North) quick thinking to save the day, Miko (Tania Gunadi) getting to kick a little more ass Wrecker-style, and Bumblebee stealing nearly everyone's thunder with his death, rebirth, and final words to the former leader of the Decepticons.

Although I am a little disappointed in a season subtitled Beast Hunters we didn't get even the tease of the Dinobots (seriously, what's up with that?) I have to admit the series finale is one of its best episodes. The tearful farewells of the various Autobots to their human compatriots is a nice way for the bots to say farewell to their fans as well. Despite not loving several of the movie versions of the characters, I'll admit I'm going to miss this show and I look forward to see how the upcoming movie ties up the various loose ends including the Predacons and what happens to Shockwave (David Sobolov) and Starscream (Steve Blum) following their escape.
