King & Maxwell - Job Security

King (Jon Tenney) and Maxwell (Rebecca Romijn) are hired by a widower (John Innes) whose camera phone, with the last pictures of his recently deceased wife and their final days together, was stolen earlier that morning. However, the investigation reveals a shady lawyer (Daniel Roebuck) playing a game of legal extortion who tries to buy the pair off the case as well as the discovery that the phone actually belongs not to their client but to the Deputy Director of National Intelligence (Spencer Garrett).

When the lawyer turns up tortured and beaten into a coma by a pair of drug cartel enforcers (Adrian HolmesPatrick Sabongui), King begins to wonder what is really on that phone that is worth lying and killing for. The search for answers lead the pair to a disavowed CIA agent (Jim Byrnes) with an axe to grind and his son (Brendan Fletcher) who has made a terrible mistake in an attempt to get his father the help he so desperately needs.

Although it seems we're back into the mode where every story involves either someone or something of utmost importance, "Job Security" offers up an okay mystery and a few nice nuggets including more of the unexpected friendship between Benny (Dichen Lachman) and Edgar (Ryan Hurst) spend more time together and further bond over the tragedy of her borhter, a nice twist to the last-minute hostage exchange, and a final sequence which leaves Maxwell with a tempting offer (which, of course, she can't take if the show wants to make it to a second season).
