House of Lies - Wonders of the World

Marty (Don Cheadle) hides out in his apartment and licks his wounds following his altercation with the police that left him with a black eye and several stitches. Although he refuses to discuss the matter with his father (Glynn Turman) and brother (Larenz Tate), he can't hide from Roscoe (Donis Leonard Jr.) whose mix of anger at what the pair of white cops did to his father and fear that something similar might someday happen to him actually hits Marty far harder than the physical blows that left him bleeding on the street.

Although Roscoe's announcement of his plan to leave his mother (Dawn Olivieri) and move back in brightens up his day, Marty finds a far less pleasant surprise waiting for him at home. Despite his express desire to let the matter rest Malcolm calls in a few of his friends (Dennis HillTalia Tabin, Thomas Daniel) who want to turn the assault on his brother into a political statement and an ongoing series of articles with a Pulitzer Prize nominated journalist who wants to use his story as a stepping stone to examine current race relations in Los Angeles.

Meanwhile, Jeannie (Kristen Bell), Clyde (Ben Schwartz), and Doug (Josh Lawson) pitch the head (Adam Brody) of an adult toy company who wants to compete with his competitors without lowering the quality of his dildos, vibrators, rubber vaginas, and hundreds of other products. After testing out some of the merchandise Jeannie decides to take the client out for a spin as well. When Marty receives a panicked call from Tamara (Nia Long) who needs Marty's help with the insane Carlson (Mather Zickel), he gathers the Pod together and heads for Las Vegas only to discover the problem has rectified itself in his absence.

Although I felt the attack didn't fit well into last week's episode I'll give the show credit for spending time to deal with its fallout (of which it appears we've only glimpsed the tip of the iceberg). The episode ends with Marty knocking on the wrong hotel room door after learning of Jeannie's tryst with the dildo king which should lead to increased tension amongst the Pod when they learn he spent the night with Tamara. The episode also has a fun running gag of Doug seriously considering getting a rubberized plastic mold of his penis as the perfect gift for his new girlfriend (Jenny Slate) which is thankfully shot down before the plan is ever implemented.
